Email notification doesn't work

Hy at all;

every time I try to register a new user, server respond with “OK” and “email notification sent”; but checkig email box I don’ t find email and read a new error line in seahub.log file like this:

[ERROR] seahub.api2.endpoints.admin.users:278 post (535, ‘5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: authentication failure’)

port 25, 465, 993 open on ufw.

I use own email server setting with setting below in “”

EMAIL_HOST = ‘’ # smpt server
EMAIL_HOST_USER = ‘xxxxx.xxxxxxx@xxx.xxt’ # username and domain
EMAIL_HOST_PASSWORD = ‘xxxxxx’ # password

it seems my fault during server initialization by scripting setup, but I don’ t know which setup files I have to check to correct wrong setup input

Two things:
1.) Does your SMTP server accept unencrypted connections?

2.) Play around with EMAIL_PORT. 25 is one option. 465 is another. 587 is a third. If you use 587, open the firewall. (993 is the standard port of IMAP(S). This port is of no use in the setup.)

You can also test the settings in any mail client (i.e., Thunderbird). The settings that give you a connection in the mail client should also allow Seafile to send messages.
