Now that I’ve figured out how to use the multi-storage and S3 backend storage thanks to this wonderful forum I started thinking about hosting an instance of Seafile on a VPS, but use S3 as the storage instead of local. But since the keys for your S3 bucket(s) are in plain text in the .json on the server, it’s vulnerable. Is there a way to salt or otherwise obfuscate these values while still allowing Seafile to function properly?
I currently have it running on a home server not exposed to the internet and simply use Wireguard from my phone to connect when out and about. But I like the idea of using a VPS like this, but only if it can be done securely.
