Pin Unpin problems [Report with procedure] Seadrive 3.0.14

Hello,

I know that VFS synchronization can be problematic, I see it catastrophic under nextcloud, owncloud and seafile seems to be the one that copes best by being the most reliable.

However, the ultimate test that would make me have full confidence in seafile drive still doesn’t quite pass!

I have quite a few projects as a dev with small files of all kinds and dependencies that I need to synchronize between clients so that I don’t have to re-download everything on each PC.

The test is simple and easily reproducible to make the tool more reliable. If you wish, download cmder version full (important) https://cmder.app/ then unzip it in a seadrive library with 7-zip/Nana-zip (or other I imagine). After a while, synchronization will be buggy for the vendor/git-for-windows/usr and vendor/git-for-windows/mingw64 folders.

There are no symbolic links or other visually strange files, and some folder contents appear to be completely synchronized, but the parent keeps the symbol in sync. The logs show no errors and the popup listing errors is empty.

If I pin, unpin or try to free up space I still have 295MB/418MB that won’t manage to be deleted locally.

If I force local retention, some folders will remain with the cloud or the synchronization icon while there is no action on the seadrive side.

Could you investigate the problem?
Server and client versions up to date.
Thanks

Hello @val_inf ,

Can you please confirm the following questions?

  1. Can you check specifically which files are not being freed? Are these files special in any way?
  2. After the space is released, are there any errors recorded in the seadrive.log file?

The files are not special, there are no errors in the logs.

I’ve just made a video capture with 2 unpin attempts that don’t work even if I wait long enough.

Hello @val_inf ,

Can you send us the relevant logs of seadrive? You can right-click the tray icon and then select “Open Log Folder” to get the logs. You can send the logs to support@seafile.com.

No problem, I’ve just sent you everything.

@feiniks Hello, Do you have any news on this subject?

Hello @val_inf

This issue occurs because after right-clicking to free up space for the directory, the system did not generate file modification events due to the large number of files in the directory, which caused Seadrive to not process the unpin operation. We currently have no plans to optimize this issue.
