Problems accessing libraries after latest iOS app upgrade

My iOS apps updated automatically and suddenly stopped working. The libraries on my server are no longer visible in the app. This is the same on my iPhone and iPad. The Seafile client on my Mac is still fine, showing the libraries, and if I log in via the web that works too. I’ve been running this server for years and it’s always worked flawlessly. Any ideas?

I can confirm that I experience the same issue. I thought it may be related to very old version of the Seafile I have (6.3.4), but apparently something happened to iOS client.

Thanks for confirming - you may be right - my server version is even older and the prospect of upgrading to 12 is daunting to say the least. I’m not even sure version 12 will run on the Centos server I have…

Same here. Just went to access files from my library via the updated IOS app (v3.0.2) and it refuses to show the library. Logged out, deleted my login info, and tried again - same issue. I am on an ancient version of Seafile Server for Windows 6.0.7 that I don’t have plans to move away from. Maybe the new IOS client doesn’t play nice with older server versions?

@daniel.pan - any thoughts?

Thanks…

Jason

That’s what Docker is for :wink: but seriously, try with Docker if you can. If you cannot, plan an upgrade from major to major until you arrive to version 12

The new iOS app (v3.0.2) use a new API to list libraries. The API has been added since Seafile server 8.0.

Please upgrade your server to a version later than v8.0.

Thanks Daniel! I’m not in a position at the moment to upgrade the server currently (need to pin up a Linux box and learn Docker, at a minimum). Not even sure if it’s possible to “downgrade” the IOS app or sideload an older version, but can you confirm what was the last IOS version that would work with older servers? I’ve checked the release notes but couldn’t find it called out specifically.

You can use 2.9.x version of Seafile iOS app to work with old version of Seafile server.

Thank you @daniel.pan. It doesn’t appear there’s an easy way to rollback versions in IOS and sideloading requires having the IPA file and jumping through a lot of hoops. Stupidly, I don’t have a previous backup of my phone that might have allowed me to restore an earlier version.

I did find Seafile for IOS v2.9.35 on Github…unfortunately, I’m not skilled enough to turn that into something I can use on my iPhone/iPad.

Looks like us older server users may be out of luck for IOS functionality. I can access files via web, which is at least something, but had really come to rely on the Camera Upload feature. I might have to find an alternate solution, as I won’t be able to work on a server migration for at least a few months.

Best,

Jason

Same problem for me. The iOS App is not working any longer and I‘m not able to upgrade the seafile server.
