I am however able to login with the exact same credentials to the SeaFile desktop application, but with SeaDrive it either displays a ‘Netwrk Error: Permission denied’ window or hangs indefinitely. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, doing every update I can, etc. to no avail.
If you want support, how about you provide some info that helps us support you:
Seafile server version
Seafile sync client version
Seafile drive client version
MacOS version
Any antivirus software on your Mac
Did you make sure that the server URL is correct, especially HTTP vs. HTTPS?
Do you use a self-signed certificate? if yes, did you check the box in the Seadrive settings to not validate the SSL-certificate?
The aforementioned updates brought me to these version numbers:
SeaFile Server Version: 6.0.9
SeaFile Sync Client Version: 7.0.0 (macOS)
SeaDrive Client Version: 1.0.5
macOS Version: 10.14.5
To answer your other questions:
no persistent anti-virus software is running
The URL is correct – the sync client would not have connected otherwise (it is HTTPS)
The server is using a self-signed certificate, but the setting to validate it was disabled (i.e. it is set not to validate)
As I said, the problem is not the configuration, as evidenced by the sync client working. Examining the logs gives no more information than the same message, “Network Error: Permission denied”.
