SeaDrive Installation with funny certificate

One of our university users reported that on a macOS Catalina System the installation procedure for SeaDrive can appear a bit awkward if you don’t know that SeaDrive needs “FUSE for macOS”. Namely he got prompted with a certificate signed by “Benjamin Fleischer” without any further notice who he is and what kind of kernel extension should be installed.

I am not an macOS-Pro, but maybe there are ways of giving a bit more detail about what is happening and why the cert is not signed by Seafile Inc. Something like: “SeaDrive relies on the Software FUSE for macOS developed by Benjamin Fleischer.” or similar…

Hi!

Benjamin Fleischer is the author/developer of FUSE for macOS. It is a virtual file system driver used by SeaDrive. So it is a legitimate requirement.

I agree with you that FUSE for macOS being a requirement is not properly communicated right now. I’ll add it to the German manual at https://de.seafile.com/support/benutzer/anleitung. That is something I can do in the short term.
