Seafile Server on Raspbian Buster (not working)

Dear all,

it seems that seafile isn’t working on new buster-OS.

My history:
I updated my running Pi3 (stretch) to buster >> Seafile not working
I started a clean install of my Pi3 with buster and installed Seafile as usually >> seafile not working

The installation runs fine without any failures but i don’t get access to the web-interface. I only get the message internal server error.

I checked the seahub.log and found following:
[ERROR] django.request:135 handle_uncaught_exception Internal Server Error: /
Traceback (most recent call last):

Is the current-Pi-Version 6.3.4 not compatible with buster ???

I took again stretch and installed it directly without any problem. Therefore i’m really afraid, seafile is currentlx not compatible with buster.

Thanks in advance for your support/help.

I’ve also had the same issue trying to use the Docker image on my Raspberry PI 3b with a clean install of Raspbian Buster. The container never starts and looking in the logs it shows an ‘exec format error’. Thanks, Dom

On armv7 systems the official Seafile docker container doesn’t work - that’s what causes the exec format error.

Try this one instead:

install -dm777 $HOME/seafile &&
docker run --name seafile \
  -v $HOME/seafile:/home/seafile \
  -p your_ip:8000:8000 \
  -p your_ip:8082:8082 \
  -ti yangxuan8282/rpi-alpine-seafile

Thank you, that worked well on my PI3 system running Buster. Appreciate the reply, Dom

You’re welcome.

Hi…If you want the command line interface (CLI) at startup, you could set the Pi to not bring up the GUI desktop at all. If you never need the GUI desktop, you could use Rapbian Lite.
