Even though I stopped developing applications/solutions for a living years ago, and am near the top of the heap as a corp exec, my wife says that I am happiest when I am creating some app or solving a problem with code.

I have a hobby corporation, maybe soon a well paying retirement hobby and I needed – yes, real enthusiasts will understand “needed” a managed user filing system on my webserver. Yeah, I thought about writing one, but here was one already written. yay!

I spun up a new Digital Ocean Droplet, LTS of course, installed several standard to me packages and Docker to run Seafile and a few other apps.

yeah, requires a well fitting redirection thinking cap to hand off incoming web requests on the standard http and https ports handled by Apache over to the Docker apps running on alternative ports but WELL worth it for simplicity and not getting bogged down with environment dependancies.

If you aren’t using Docker yet, start today.

If you run into any grief with redirection from Apache that gives you authentication problems in NGINX or problems uploading files in Seafile or even problems using Let’s Encrypt certificates, give me a shout.
