Seafile 14.0 Preview: UI Improvements

In Seafile 14.0, we continued to refine the user interface and improve many details across the system.

The new UI is already available on our cloud service, plus.seafile.com, where users can get an early look at the updated experience.

This article highlights some of the most visible UI and usability improvements in the upcoming release.

UI/UX Improvements

Redesigned Icons

All icons in Seafile have been redesigned in version 14.0.

The updated icons follow a more consistent style across the system, making it easier to distinguish different actions and navigation items.

Updated UI Components

We refined many commonly used interface elements, including buttons, dropdown menus, and dialogs.

The updates bring a more consistent appearance across different parts of the system.

Example:

Improved Navigation and Layout

Navigation colors, page layouts, and visual details have been refined across the system.

These changes improve visual hierarchy and make different areas of the interface easier to distinguish.

New Image Viewer

The image viewer has been updated with a cleaner interface.

It provides a more straightforward way to browse image files while keeping common actions accessible.

Video Preview in Grid View

Grid View now supports video preview.

When hovering over a video thumbnail, the video can be played directly without opening the file.

This makes it easier to identify video content when browsing folders.

Improved Trash and History Pages

The Trash and History pages now use a table layout.

Users can search and filter records directly on the page, making it easier to locate deleted items and file operation records.

Closing

The improvements introduced in Seafile 14.0 focus on the areas users interact with every day, from navigation and file browsing to image viewing and activity tracking.

We will continue to introduce other new features and improvements planned for Seafile 14.0 in upcoming preview articles.
