Seafile Client Crash macOS Sequoia (15)

Welp. That was disappointing and equally ironic. I was so fed up with Nextcloud, I finally sat down gleefully to get Seafile up and running on my TrueNAS. After THAT whole terrible experience, where “setup.sh” doesn’t actually really set anything up and you have to do everything by hand…, I finally got it working. Or thought I did. Web access works great! Fired up Seafile Client, and boom, crash. Crash after crash. Ok, I realized I was on a severely outdated version. Of course. That’s my bad. So I grab the latest version. Launch it, and…. crash after crash after crash. Log attached.

LMFAO just kidding… apparently I’m not allowed to post that many characters. Ok. PARTIAL log attached.

Just kidding AGAIN. As a new user, An error occurred: Sorry, new users can only put 2 links in a post.

So…. I guess f me, f you, and f everybody because nobody wants anything to work! Hooray!

If anybody even cares, let me know and I’ll be happy to supply the crash log (it’s very reproducible). But I’ll assume nobody cares and this is largely abandonware. Not really sure why I was so hopeful about Seafile… kinda funny that I spent years with this on my TODO, and finally got around to it and am just being told NO by the universe. Ah well. Off to find a better solution.

What versions of Seafile Server and Client are you running? Is this the Sync client or the Desktop Drive client?

Assuming you are running a newer version of Seafile server, I would completely uninstall the client software using something like AppCleaner. You can also do it by hand if you prefer.

Next, reinstall the client software using the latest release. You can download the installer here.

I’ve seen this kind of problem several times under varying circumstances and there are reports of its treatment recorded on this forum. For example, here’s an example of a complete uninstall of SeaDrive on a Mac that might help.

While it might seem a bit drastic or too much work, I have not seen this approach fail.

Give it a try and please report back what you see.

Good luck!
