“My Libraries”, “Shared with Me”, and “Group Libraries” are merged into a single “Files” entry. Users can manage all libraries in a unified interface, significantly simplifying the library management process.

The sidebar supports folding and width adjustment to adapt to different users’ usage habits.

A new grid view mode is added, making file display more intuitive and clear, and enabling users to locate the required content more quickly.

1.2 Enhanced File Metadata Visibility

Clicking the “Properties” icon will bring up the optimized file details sidebar. This sidebar now presents file information such as size, last modified by, and modification date in a more visually appealing layout. It provides a clearer and more intuitive understanding of the file’s attributes, improving file management efficiency.

1.3 File Preview and Thumbnails

The image viewing experience and others have been upgraded to meet the diverse needs of users.

• Support rotate, download, delete, view raw image from image preview UI

• Support preview and generating thumbnails for HEIC format

• Support generating thumbnails for PDF files and videos

• Open Markdown files in a pop-up window instead of a new tab

• Unified the look and feel of toolbars for the viewer/editor for various file types (e.g.pdf, markdown, txt)

1.4 Improved Library Sharing Management

In the “Shared Links” and “Upload Links” of the library “Sharing Management”, batch operations on links are now supported. At the same time, more information is displayed, such as the creator’s avatar, expiration time, and number of accesses, enabling users to more intuitively understand the usage of links.

2. Precision File Search System

The search function has been significantly improved, supporting file location from global to fine - grained levels, bringing a more convenient and precise search experience for users.

2.1 Optimized Global Search Experience

Clicking the global search box, the system automatically displays a list of recently accessed search results, which can be directly accessed by clicking.

After entering keywords and pressing Enter, the search will be conducted across all libraries.

Clicking on the searched library or file, the system will directly jump to the specific page, greatly shortening the search path.

2.2 Improved Search within Libraries

When searching for files within a single library, three search scope options are now available:

“In this library”: Only search for files within this library (default option).

“In this folder”: Limit the search to the folder where the user is located and its sub - folders, improving search accuracy.

“In all libraries”: Search across the entire system, suitable for cases where the file storage location is uncertain.

3. SeaDoc Collaborative Document Upgrades

SeaDoc, an extension of Seafile, is a more lightweight and seamless document collaboration solution. SeaDoc has also been comprehensively enhanced in this update.

  • Interface Optimization: After the interface table of contents icons are adjusted, the visualization effect is better, making the document structure clear at a glance. The newly added empty paragraph prompt function helps users quickly locate unfilled content and improves editing efficiency.

  • Quick Links: Now, by pressing the shortcut key “Ctrl+K”, users can quickly open the link dialog box and add links to the selected text.

  • Rich Table Functions: Now, users can insert images into cells to make data display more vivid. They can also drag rows and columns to flexibly adjust the table layout, or use the “Auto - fit to Page Width” button to automatically adjust the width of each table column to fit the page width with one click.

  • Export and Collaboration: Now it supports one - click conversion and export of SeaDoc documents into Word format for further editing or sharing. The real - time comment notification function ensures smoother team collaboration and immediate feedback.

4. New Wiki Feature for Knowledge Management

To meet users’ needs for knowledge management, we have added a wiki function. Users can now create and manage a knowledge base for easy team information sharing and collaborative editing. This function not only improves team collaboration efficiency but also realizes efficient knowledge management and access.

Looking Ahead

Looking forward to Seafile 13.0 and beyond, we will continue to improve file management with features such as extended file attributes, AI-assisted property extraction, new multi-dimensional views, and various view rules to provide users with a more efficient file management experience.

In SeaDoc collaborative document management, we will enhance collaboration features based on user feedback, and offer advanced options like AI-assisted editing and richer media embedding options to meet the growing demands of teams for document creation and management.

Conclusion

Seafile Professional Edition 12.0 is now officially available, and we welcome your valuable feedback. Seafile will continue to explore the trends in enterprise cloud storage and collaboration services, providing users with an efficient, secure, and innovative file management and collaboration experience.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to working with you to build a better Seafile!

Thank you for the final version

If i use SeaSearch with S3 storage Backend, i run into a tls error(“tls: failed to verify certificate: x509: certificate signed by unknown authority”). Because the container image dont contain any root certificates.
I can workaround this by mounting the ca-certificates from host. It would be nice if this could be fixed into a future versions.

Can SeaSearch also an full-text search like elasticsearch?

Thanks again for your work on Seafile.

SeaSearch does not support full-text search at this moment. It will be added in version 13.0.

Just for confirmation: The new wiki feature depends on SeaDoc, right? So without SeaDoc, I can’t edit any wiki documents even if I just use Markdown.

But turning off the wiki doesn’t work, ENABLE_WIKI = False has no effect. I presume that’s only the trigger for the old wiki?

Yes.

We will give it a check.
