Hi
I tried the demo. Created 3 level deep of directories. Each directory only has emoji in its name.
As I create the each directory I’ll go a level deeper. Going back to the top level of directory its name becomes ???.
As I have lots of files and directories with both emoji and UTF8 characters I hope it works as expected.
Also file upload seems broken too!
File is only a few hundred bytes…
No Seafile developers in the forum? Anyone come across similar issues?
We haven’t tested with emoji in file name. Supporting emoji in file name is not within our development plan yet.
Trying to play a media file with an emoji in the filename leads to this error page:
Page unavailable
Sorry, but the requested page is unavailable due to a server hiccup.
Our engineers have been notified, so check back later.
While this is something that we can live on from an end user perspective, it’s something else when it comes to security. I’m not confident that this is secure, and I have a reasonable doubt that it could be abused by someone to hack the server in some way. Unexpected errors and untested use cases are usually what leads to exploits.
The “emoji in the filename” issue will be addressed in version 13.0.
