Seafile & Windows= Dead end buggy software

debian on a windows machine with a windows OS mainframe, now why did i not think if that!

Lets try this again, IS ANYONE OUT HERE USING THIS PRODUCT ON WINDOWS SERVER (yes that was totally yelling for all you linux lovers with stars in your eyes

Buy a raspberry. You will be able to do your tests.
I also work on server 2012. But not with seafile.

I admit that server may not be the “optimal” platform, but you know what, correct me if i am wrong that Windows has been around for a helluva long time, there are far to many idiots out there that love windows to make running linux the mainstream option, its nice to dream for the penguins though lol

I am sure someone will come along who

A. knows how to get it working
B. is not butthurt by a little REALITY that this sort of software is always full of issues

Did you know that 95% of linux users are “Script kiddies” pasting from the other 5%, that if its not already done they are at a loss at which button to click.

And on the other hand 75% of techs in windows have been field trained to handle most any issue

interesting world

At least it gives work in both directions .

Did you know
Server : Windows Server holds 30% of the market share behind Linux with 38%. BSD is at 1% and the others based on Unix are maintained towards the 30%. However, these figures may vary depending on the type of server being analyzed

Mainframes: In this area we can say that Linux is alone. The market is mainly distributed between Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Novell (SuSe Linux Enterprise Server or SLES)

Supercomputers: If there is indeed a domain where suspense is absent and where the hegemony of Linux is total it is indeed that of supercomputers. The first Linux appearance in the world’s 500 largest supercomputers was in June 1998, and today 485 of the top 500 users are using Linux (97%). Unix is second with 13 representatives. The other two are hybrids between Windows and another operating system

hi all,

i think this thread is becoming entirely unproductive. fortunately, reading it comes with a certain amount of fun.

hi seafile_nodropbox,

since a month we are waiting for log files/error messages from your side. i wonder why.
I am sure that every (stupid?) script kiddie can paste the commands to browse the logfiles, look for errors and paste them in this forum. Why not you?

All we get from you are insults.

So here is one back: maybe your are more similar to a script kiddie than you realize - you simply do what is written in the instructions and paste the commands! Not that there is something wrong with this, but this is exactly what a script kiddie would do. BUT: if something does not work as expected, your are at a loss in figuring out what it is. Because you do not understand what you are doing? (again, exactly like a script kiddie)

As I said, besides the insults, reading this is fun. Thank you.

And if you want to solve your problem, start thinking and start giving us error messages.

cheers,
hp

@hkunz I love you <3 exactly what I thought

Completely if not Direct points on all fronts, I will not post again until I have some tangible evidence

This guy is bullying a community into giving him free support for his business, and claims that it makes him “successful” at business. I think the best course of action is to ban this individual. I don’t see how helping him set up his servers and then sell to his clients, when he has no desire to buy commercial support, is going to help the community when he’s back complaining about the next issue he runs into that he refuses to pay for.

I can see why the US government agencies have problems if they hire someone like you. Way to bite the hand that feeds you. Good riddance and please be miserable somewhere else.

Seriously, this guy is a loser. Just ignore him or ban him.

Well I was always taught losers tend to show themselves quite profoundly as you did here. I did not attack anyone with name calling. I make more money then you will in a lifetime, but I am not attacking you. I am working on a full video file showing my install so those that want to HELP can, regardless of what I intend on using the software for, this was very rude.

You sir, have defined yourself here

If you ban me your only banning someone who is asking for help, and who admitted he was harsh. I ask for nothing more then help setting up software

If you make so much money why not just buy commercial support and help improve the software? You must make a lot to claim you make more than the tech enthusiasts here. Throw some pennies to the developers you make your money off of.

I’ll give you a little help: https://www.seafile.com/en/product/private_server/

I do not make money off of this software, so there is that

I used to be a large supporter of the linux build, my company was even responsible for funding the development of some technologies that ran on linux, we jumped ship when a user had to write 20 commands to get a sound card working

back to the subject, I have completed a video, uploading now

no no no

for those of you who want to help here is a video detailing the complete install on our server, some things got screwed up but nothing that should have stopped the program from working

Install Video

that is awesome backtrack

Now if i could just get to that point

Hi!
I watched your video.
Did you add Python to the path variable? This is not covered in your video.
Also, did you try for starters to run seafile on the localhost IP 127.0.0.1 only?
If that works, you could change the IP later on, and if it fails then, this would help to track down the problem.
And finally, I believe that the seahub_settings file in the conf folder needs to contain the correct IP address as well. So it would definitely be a good idea to stick to the 127.0.0.1 IP first.
If that works, we can continue the bug tracking…
Good luck.

I’d agree with re80’s: try it locally with 127.0.0.1 first. My guess is that it could be a firewall issue: have you checked, whether port 8000 is open all the way to your seafile-server?

ok thanks for the help sorry the vid was so long, ill check the things noted and get right back to everyone

wish i could explain this

http://198.71.51.38:8000/

it just suddenly started working, i can see it on lan and WAN, however whenever someone goes to that page , windows pops an error, but its closer for whatever reason

EDIT: not quite working lol, still slower then dogsh#$

and none of the pages load, but its closer, ill check the other stuff

ok i reset the server and all the exe files and restarted it, lets see how it behaves now
