We are a non profit organization, with voluntary people making non google and co alternatives, so our business model is not really the question 
We try to help, reports bugs on free software we use, and code our-self : we have done a form app based on Seafile : Florence Birée / seafform · GitLab
But I think projects like seafile who mixed free and non free software are not the easiest projects to contribute, because some features are reserved to the non-free part, there is a roadmap droved by business considerations⊠Itâs ok, and itâs allow to have good free software, but I find contributions more difficult in this case.
